Description

Human cloning, eugenics, genetic manipulation, genetic testing, DNA databases, and genetic discrimination all potentially threaten the human rights of particular individuals. Inadequate, or inappropriate, regulation of these things also represents a series threat to individuals¿ human rights. We look at how human rights may be conceived from philosophical perspectives, informed particularly by the work of Alan Gewirth and John Rawls, and we consider how effectively human rights are currently protected and genetic technologies appropriately regulated by international human rights instruments.
